Happy Day 18 everyone! Namaste! The word translates simply into “I bow to the divine in you.” Wow, how different might our interactions be with each other if we were always bowing to the divinity in the other person – even when we don’t seem to see any showing up? Do you think this might be a worthwhile practice to take on? So, how did your sun salutations treat you? I am glad I was alone in my room doing mine, because my flexibility didn’t quite look like Hollister’s (and that is okay). Did this exercise bring anything to the surface for you?
Day 18: Golden If it is true that silence is golden…let’s spend some time today really exploring why this is true. So, for 10-15 minutes minimum, can you sit in silence without distraction? No phone, TV, book, journal, or distraction of any type. This is a great opportunity to sit in silence without an agenda – and just listen. If you want to challenge yourself to sit longer – go for it. My recommendation would be to find the amount of time that really stretches you – and then push beyond it. When you are done – now you can break out that journal and gather some of your insights.
Who needs a check-in?: If anyone is feeling stuck – or you just need someone to listen to your thoughts and insights – let me know. I am happy to listen at anytime. Don’t hesitate. Have a wonderful Day 18 everyone!

Love this!!!!
this is a part of my daily activities and the silence always bathes me with kindness, delivering unexpected sweetness and offers ways to welcome what I hear;)
The practice of silence daily helps me practice stillness as I move through the day where I might be in a crowd / or it looks like chaos around me.
ie today I spent 2 hours @ Monet's Water LIlies exhibit @ STL Art Museum. Yes I had an audio info/ipod which had a few brief things on it and there were plenty of people around - but ...... the sacred silence I experienced as I got still and then viewed the few pieces in the exhibit, gathered a taste of his life, and stood at all different vantage points, the texture of a stroke and layered strokes, what looked like a blob of abstract color up close, made a form recognizable from far away etc He worked on this series over the course of 10-11 years..... The perseverance, trust, patience, courage to paint over/add a layer etc, to spend time doing large study paintings that may not seem related to the final, to know when he was done etc. This gave me great pause and patience with myself, life and work to press on, appreciate each thought, stroke, study, encounter and to show up every day to paint/practice;)
As I left, the notice of this silence - in a crowd, stood out as I didn't feel distracted by the environment but silently one with all there. Mmmmm
Mmmmm goood;)
THANKS for inviting us in Trav and Hollister!!!!
XXOOO
So I got in my walk in closet, closed the door, turned the light off, laid on the floor, and set a timer for 15 minutes. I first started to pray by asking God what he knew about me and he told me very clearly, "do good". That was it. Then I thought of what I could do for others. I got side tracked and thought about many other things too and before I knew it, my time was up! I thought I would take a video of me doing nothing so I turned the light back on and sat up. Because I was calm after my 15 mins, I sat in front of the camera for over a minute! I could have gone longer but felt a little silly for doing a minute already.
Anyways, I really liked this activity and I will be doing this in the future!
