Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built. --Rumi
Happy Day 17 everyone!
As Stevie Wonder sang, “I just called to say…I love you!” How did your phone a friend go yesterday? Would love to hear your inspiration and insights.
Okay, there are a lot of goodies today for you in the 30 Days of YES e-mail. First…your assignment…
Day 17: TCBY
Tonight’s activity is to try a little yoga. Don’t worry, if this is new, Hollister is going to demonstrate what is called a Sun Salutation – and is one of the foundational exercises for yoga. When you click on my video link below – you will get my description of the assignment – and then a video clip of Hollister demonstrating the move. Enjoy:
Hollister also had this to say:
“The basic translation of the word yoga is "union." It's the art of drawing together heart, mind, and body into one beautiful whole! A Yogi, Daniel DiTuro wrote, "Yoga is a quest for remembering our true nature, our deepest selves." In our YES practice, have you been noticing the pure joy that you feel when you turn your inward exploration of your true self into an outward expression. For me, this is what yoga means. When we align our hearts, minds and bodies, we flow in the grace of yoga. So, let's flow today!
The video is of a basic Sun Salutation. A Sun Salutation is great warm-up routine for your practice or the start of your day. It also is great on it's own. Complete the series with one leg and then repeat using the other leg...as many times as you'd like. You can always rest in child's pose (sit on your heels, bow forward - hands alongside our out in front).”
Here is a written description of what you're doing:
-Start in "tadasana" - mountain pose. Legs hip-width, arms alongside -Inhale, arms overhead (i like to do a gentle backbend) -Exhale, forward fold -Inhale, chin up, flat back -Exhale, right leg back in a lunge -Inhale, left leg back to plank -Exhale, lower yourself and pull chest forward (a variation is knees, chest, chin - that's the order you lower yourself in) -Inhale, cobra - lift from the heart -Exhale, downward-facing dog -Inhale, bring left leg up to lunge -Exhale, right leg up into forward fold -Inhale, arms up -Exhale, mountain pose, hands in Namaste

Lastly, I showed this video clip to all of the high school boys on my hall last night. You all remember Randy, he is the man who gave The Last Lecture. Here is his shortened version that he delivered on Oprah:

I loved doing this!!!! Felt great :)
I've actually turned Yoga into a daily commitment now...and sometimes 2 or 3 times in the day. I'm finding the value in making time to go to my mat...even if only for a few minutes. And I can customize it to be a restorative, or strengthening, or empowering moment..whatever the need is!
