Day 13: Page Turner

There are no failures - just experiences and your reactions to them. –Tom Krause

Happy Day 13 everyone!

Okay, how did the Random Acts of Kindness go? Start posting them. This isn’t the time to get shy ;)

Day 13: Page Turner
Take at least 10-15 minutes digging into something inspirational you have never read. It could be a book that has been sitting on your shelf waiting to be opened, or an author or writer you have never heard of. You might need to do some digging. The key is to find something that takes you out of your normal routine – spend some time with it – and then use some journal time to reflect on.

Peaceful Warrior: I posted yesterday that I wanted to share with you all the mindful eating clip from the film. My brother was gracious enough to find it – and I posted the link below. The eating portion shows up at about the 1:59 mark, but if you want my recommendation – watch all of the clips. I could watch them over and over.

Conference call: Looking at my schedule, I have a night-off Monday night which would put us just about halfway through the 30 days. I will go ahead and schedule a free conference call and give you all the call-in information tomorrow. In order to try to accommodate both coasts as best I can – I am thinking about a 9pm call, ET.

Have a wonderful day 13 everyone – and keep sharing your insights!

My Dad gave me Passionate Presence - Experiencing the Seven Qualities of Awakened Awareness - a few years ago and it went into my pile of "to-read"....
Picked it up this morning while enjoying my quiet/coffee time...The first chapter is on silence and it was the perfect reminder and insight into being still and aware...
"In confusion, we pay attention mostly to stories. In awakened awareness, we pay attention mostly to silence."
Just what I needed to read as I approach a most intense work week...
Happy Sunday!

Hi All. I wanted to share gratitude for the alertness that I am gaining, I have been busy trying to rearrange the human dream rather than to sit at the edge and watch how Grace transforms. This has been pretty uncomfortable and yet needed. During those 3 days in the wilderness Jesus became alert to mortal thought and finally put it out. As Mrs. Eddy directs us to see that all is with in consciousness- it's not out there, but with in- The kingdom is within, we are just noticing when something is unlike Good asd casting it out. Thanks for everyone's sharing.

I couldnt come up with a creative RAK...been stumped all weekend thinking I had to spend money to make it happen.. Then a thought came to me that I should express my appreciation for my rental house and sweet landlord..This would definitely be random to them because the only thing they have heard from us is the list of items to be fixed since we moved in...not that we are complainers, but its an old hosue and we have had some issues..I wanted to actually communicate with them over my love for their home and simple gratitude for their generousity..no list of things to be fixed..they will probably cheer or fall over with surprise..DONE

My RAK day..it was a cold and snowy day and really had no reason to get out of the house, but decided to do an
errand and grab a drink at the drive thru..hey, I'll get the car behind me..
no one there. So back home and thought of a person in church who I hadn't seen for awhile and gave her a call, she been having a challenge but ready to get back to church and
I offered to pick her up the next day.
Still feeling like I could do more, I had a last minute invite out to a movie and surprised my friend who is on a tight budget, and bought her ticket, she was surprised and I was glad I could do it....Just kept myself open for
opportunities.

For my book of choice, the day before this challenge I had bought
a new amplified version of the Bible..So I spent some time getting
back with an old friend .. this version has Life Points.. which has been a bonus to.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

I read two different excerpts, one from Adyashanti's True Meditation, the chapter entitled "Fear is Often a Doorway". I also read another passage from E.M. Bounds on Prayer about living in an attitude of prayer.
"In God's name, I beseech you, let prayer nourish your soul as meals nourish your body. Let your fixed seasons of prayer keep you in God's presence through the day, and may His presence frequently remembered through it be an ever fresh spring of prayer. Such a brief, loving recollection of God renews a man's whole being, quiets his passions, supplies light and counsel in difficulty, gradually subdues the temper, and causes him to possess his soul in patience, or rather gives it up to the possession of God." ~Fenelon

I just purchased the book "Zen Mind, The Beginner's Mind." It was referred to in two different biographies I read recently, one by Phil Jackson and the other by Steve Jobs. Those guys have accomplished a few things - so I thought I would give it a try ;)

Beginner's Grace - bringing prayer into your life by Kate Braestrup

Anne Lammott is a favorite author of mine and Kate has a similar style. They make me feel like we are sitting together- laughing, crying and or holding hands, walking together.

This book has been illustrating the simplicity of grace and prayer in all aspects of life, showing thought moved by grace to meaningful prayer for the individual and the moment.
